We are hours away from the first UNAT collection launching on Mscribe’s new Blockpad! The Royals collection has attracted a lot of attention and new eyes to the DMT space. The art created for the collection stands above on purely aesthetics, but it is important to be aware of the backend implications behind what makes this art special and the process for obtaining your own mints.
So What is Actually Happening and What Are You Minting?
From a NFT collector perspective what typically matters is the content being displayed in their crypto wallets along with an immutable record of on-chain ownership. The methods to achieve this result vary from NFTs to Ordinals, and now also UNATs.
Overview of Unique Non-Arbitrary Tokens (UNATs)
When generating a NAT, the deployer can incorporate a data reference source that gives individual NAT mints unique properties that cover a wide spectrum of functionality. This is similar to how non-fungible tokens can be leveraged to create unique own-able digital collectibles. This makes a DMT mint inscription into UNIQUE content on chain.
With possession of a mint inscription for a UNAT, the content you have ownership of will be renderable dependent on the inscribed script that is being referenced through the token deployment’s “ID”. Also, an important part of the UNAT mint detail is the block height “blk”. With this information the rendering script can retrieve relevant data from within a Bitcoin block to generate the unique content that is to be displayed to the end user of the UNAT owner.
From this process, marketplace platforms like Mscribe can leverage a decentralized indexer like Trac to assure DMT mint validity through the information pathways these on-chain inscriptions provide.
Minting Process
So now that you better understand how DMT content is being rendered on-chain through the UNAT inscription framework, how do you mint a block and claim ownership of a non-arbitrary token? Steps outlined below;
- Go to mint by clicking on a deployed token ticker on the NATs page.
2. Dependent on the progress of the mint, you will either enter a waiting “lobby” splash screen with the mint details and a block height countdown where minting will begin (simply wait for the “Starts in “x” Blocks” countdown to reach 0 for mint access to start).
OR you will enter the mint map containing all claimable Bitcoin blocks for that active NAT mint, and fellow “Block Runners” traversing the map to find block mints of their own (these are other human minters).
3. Choose Your Blocks by clicking on an Orange square (zoom in enough to see the block number of the square) that is displayed on the map or click the “Select Random” button to be assigned available blocks without having to manually choose. NOTE: Once you choose a block, the square will turn from Orange to Blue, indicating it is reserved and you will have up to 10 minutes reserve time to make your payment before it becomes available for someone else.
4. Next click on the “Inscribe” button once you have selected the total amount of blocks you wish to mint.
5. A payment window should open up where you can adjust your network fees and sign your wallet transaction. NOTE: Once you have submitted your invoice the squares you have chosen will turn Purple, indicating a pending transaction.
6. Once your submitted mint transaction is mined by the Bitcoin network your chosen squares will turn Gray, indicating the block is officially minted and assigned to your “UNAT” inventory.
UI Controls
The mint map can be moved manually by clicking and dragging on the mint field itself, but to more quickly find a desired block number, we have added some controls to arrive to the block destination quicker.
On the right side of the mint map interface, there are four buttons which can port you to the far ends of the map when clicked.
To go to a Block directly, input the desired block number into the block search bar on the left side of the mint map interface.
If you encounter any issues with a mint or need further directions on how to participate in a mint, either submit a support ticket on the Mscribe Discord support channel or reach out to a team member directly.
